Motivational Interviewing

Waiting List Only

The Addiction Technology Transfer Center of New England (ATTC/NE), funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), are offering an online program on Motivational Interviewing. This will be accomplished through on-line presentations, additional readings, and question & answer activities.

A highly successful treatment approach developed by Dr. William Miller, Motivational Interviewing techniques have been well established as an effective means of helping individuals recognize present and potential problems, while creating an openness to the concept of change.   The discussion material and information will be given via a class WWW page, and bulletin board, with more in depth on-line information found through links to other sites. This introductory course will provide the individual with a fundamental understanding of Motivational Interviewing techniques and Prochaska and Di Clemente's transtheoretical model "Stages of Readiness to Change." This online workshop will conclude with a demonstration of motivational interviewing techniques.

This program will be taught by Laura A. Saunders, MSSW.
